Let's Paint...FNAF cartoon style!

This was my first upload after reaching the 100 subscribers milestone!
For this one, I chose to upload one of the more request pieces, FNaF. Only this time I chose to take the characters and tried turning them into a friendlier cartoon style to mix things up a little. I have never tried doing cartoons before so this was something new for me to have a go at. I have taken cartoons in this past but I have never turn something into a cartoon.

So what do you think? Would you like to see other FNaF characters in toon form? Let us know in the comments.

And thank you all for watching.

Let's Paint...The Slenderman

Based on one of the most popular creepy pastas of all times, The faceless figure that stalks the lost and innocent in the dead of night, Slenderman.

The original design had a small lost girl holding a lantern while the Slenderman stood just behind, This however was taken out early on as it just didn't work the way i thought it would.

This was created way back in January and has been sitting there waiting to be uploaded! So i felt it was time to finally do it.

So, what do you think? Would you like to see more creepypastas in the future?

Let's Paint...Bender

The foul mouthed, alcoholic, cigar chomping robot, Bender from Futurama.
In my original design, I had Bender smoking his trademark cigar (which can also be seen in this video) but I decided to take it out towards the end. The only reason for this is because some countries frown on smoking and since my art work is ‘family friendly’ I felt it best to leave it out.
So what do you think? Don’t forget to leave a comment!

Let's Paint...Rosalina.

A time-lapse video of Rosalina from the Super Mario video games. Click play to watch.

This was created using Corel Painter 11 at some point in September/October 2014.

This was the first piece in the Super Smash Bros piece that I have been working on. The final piece is set in a comic book style layout with one fighter in each box.

I had a hand full of different sketches for this design with most focusing on the whole character. Then, just before I started to work on the real thing, I had an idea for this version. Focusing on her face rather then the whole body suited my design for a SSB complete picture and so I changed my design to this.

I also wanted to try and keep this one closer to the Nintendo design with the big eye as the main example. Originally I planed to make her more realistic but it just felt right to stick with the main design.

So, what do you think? would you like to see more based on Rosalina or the Mario Universe in the future? Leave me a comment!

Thanks for reading.

Let's Paint...Pikachu

A Time-lapse video of Pikachu!

This was created using Corel Painter 11 in February 2015. I chose to create the mascot of the Pokémon series, Pikachu in an anime style. I had a few different ideas for this piece and my first idea was to have Pikachu sitting on top of the pokeball. But I chose to have him sitting in front as it aloud me to show more of the background.

So what do you think? Don't forget to leave a comment!

Let's Paint...The book of life. La Muerte.

A Time Lapse video of the Queen of Souls from the Movie, The Book of Life.

Click play to watch.

This was created using Corel Painter 11. At this point, I have yet to see the movie but do plan to in the coming weeks.

When I first decided to do this character I thought for some reason it would be quite easy, in fact it was probably one of the more difficult pieces. This is mainly due to the tattoo's.

I had several ideas for this one and have been planning on doing this character for some weeks but it kept getting pushed back. So I decided to push everything else back instead and started to work on this.

A lot of my ideas were of her at an angle but I wanted the bright colour scheme to shine through and felt the best option was a face on design.

What do you think? Want to see more of the Book of Life in the future? Let me know in the comments!

Let's Paint...Magic Duel.

Time lapse video.

This was created using Corel Painter 11 back in January 2015 as a request piece. The person who requested ask for this two characters and gave me a very rough sketch idea of what they wanted. The sketch was very basic but it was enough to work with.

MLP are some of the most requested art works I get asked to do and yet I have very little knowledge of the show. This does make it a little more challenging for me as I have to research what the characters look like first. Now this is true for all my work pieces but with something like, Mario for example, I already know the names of the characters and can research them pretty fast. For this (including my Adventure Time piece) it took me a while going through Wiki pages finding out who they are!

But I did enjoy working on this one and I have got others in the pipeline. Surprising though, this is one of my longest video's.

So, what do you think?

Here is the finished piece!

Let's Paint...Mr Freeze.

Mr Freeze speed painting video!

Based on the Batman villain, Mr Freeze.

I drew several different idea sketches for this piece before picking this final idea. The design i chose was based more on the Cartoon on the early 90's rather then the classic version or the 'Batman and Robin' movie version. I think you can guess why!

This was created on Corel Painter 11.

Here is the final art piece.

Let's Paint...Dr Eggman

A digital time-lapse of the Sonic series main villain, Dr Robotnik!

This was created using the digital painting program, Corel Painter 11.

Continuing the Sonic theme of paintings I have been doing, I chose this time to do the villain, Dr Eggman!

The design is based more on the classic version with inspiration from the newer version.

Most requested, February 2015

Arrow Valley's most requested.

February 2015.

Each month, I shall do a quick update on the top 5 most requested art pieces that people would like me to paint.
So, here is the list of the top 5 for February 2015!
1. Five Night's at Freddy's (Various) this is without any doubt the most requested theme that people ask for. Despite creating a few (I think about five or six at the moment) I continue to get comments or private messages requesting it, it is still the most popular request and the most popular video’s I currently have. if you look at my top five video's on my Youtube channel, four of them are FNAF. I do intend to create more in the next coming months.
2. Godzilla. This one was requested a few times by several different people. It was a little bit of a surprise for me as I have never done anything like this before! I was thinking about doing something monster related for some time but never really went anywhere with it. So the requests just gave me that little push the get going with it!
3. MLP : FIM (Various) Something that I am aware of and have done requests of in the past but know very little about it. Apparently it has a large following and has been requested on several occasions. Today, I have about three different requests to do for this show and will start them soon.
4. Adventure Time. As with the above, I am aware of the show but have very little knowledge about it. I created the piece which didn’t have much success in terms of views but still, it’s there for anybody to watch!
5. Iron Man. One person requested this and I have done a few rough sketches, so hopefully it will be finished in the next few weeks.
Now these are just the top five. I have had other for things like OC’s and one for Minecraft so maybe they will make it into the top five for March! Don’t forget you can leave a comment if you want to make a suggestion for future projects!

Thanks for reading and see you next time!

Let's Paint...Alien

A time lapse painting of Alien.

This was created using Corel Painter 11.

Created back in October 2014 just in time for Halloween. Alien is simply put, one of the greatest sci fi horror movies of all time and with the recent release at the time of Alien Isolation, it was a no brainer to do this for my Halloween piece.

The last part of the video where I put the fine details did not recorded probably and for some reason the only footage I has was that of a blank green screen? I'm not sure if this is a problem with Ezvid or not.

Anyway, the main part did record and so I uploaded anyway and I do like the wayit goes for rough painting to finished in one smooth transition at the end.

Thank you as always for looking and please leave a +1 if you enjoyed the video!

Let's Paint...Border Collie.

Border Collie Speed Painting!

This was created back in September 2014 using Corel Painter 11.

One of the items I like to paint the most is animals, the other being landscapes.

This was I think the second video I did for my return back to You Tube.

Let's Paint...Adventure Time

Adventure Time digital painting time lapse video!

First I would like to say that I have very little knowledge of the show and have never watched a whole episode. That being said, I still did a request piece of it!

I had a few different designs running around in my head and this was the first one I tried. I do intend to have ago at creating some other Adventure Time pieces in the future if there is a demand for them.

The only problem I had with this was getting the right colour scheme. Did I go for a realistic style? or try sticking to the original? It took me a while to decide and went for a middle ground. I do think after reviewing it after uploading that the shadows are a little washed out which is something I will look for in future videos.

So what do you think? Would you like to see more Adventure Time paintings? Don't forget to leave a comment!

Let's Paint...Mangle

Time lapse video of Mangle from FNAF 2!

Created using Corel Painter 11.

FNAF is simply put, the most requested pieces I get ask to do. This one is the fifth one I think that I have done and people still keep asking for more!

As with all the other FNAF picture I have done, this is part of a much bigger piece that I am working on.

For this one I tried something a little different with the painting technique. With all the others, I used the 'Just add Water' blending tool to give a smooth finish. This one however I didn't. I think really I just want to try new things to develop my skills and part of that is trying new ideas.

Again, there was a few different idea sketches before I finally land on this one. For some reason I found the only one that worked for me was a face on version. This was something I tried to avoid but it just seemed to fit so well.

So what do you think? Let me know in the comments!

Let's Paint...Spring Trap.

Speed paint of Spring Trap from FNAF 3!
Click the play button to watch now!

Painted using Corel Painter 11.

I painted this way before the game came out back when everyone called this as 'Golden Bonnie'. Now of course he is known as 'Spring Trap'

FNAF is one of my most requested pieces that people ask for. I had just decided to do another one when on the same day I started to create some rough sketches, the trailer for the third game in the series was released. Straight away I started work on this one!

I will admit that the video is a little dark and is quite hard to see the final picture which is why I lightened up the thumbnail for the video.

So what do you think? Let me know in the comments.

Let's Paint...Twinmold for Majora's Mask.

To celebrate the release of Zelda Majora's Mask for the 3DS, I have created a time lapse video of the Stone Temple boss, Twinmold from the game.

This was created using the program, Corel Painter 11.

For those of you who have played the game will need no introduction to this menacing beast but for those who are not, let me explain.

Twinmold is the boss monster from the Stone Tower level in Majora's Mask. There are two of them, one being blue and one being red. They are giant insect style monsters then fly and the hero of the game, Link must defeat them. To do this he must use a special mask that turns him into a giant.

For this one, I had two starting designs, this one and one from the side. I chose the front design as I felt that viewing the monster from the front would give a much better impact of the hideous nature of the creature which is something I felt the a side view couldn't do.

I had to research many pictures of bugs and insects to get an idea for a design which I'm glad I may never have to do again!

It didn't take as long as I thought it would either taking just over two hours to finish. I have thought about creating the other three bosses in the future.

So, what do you think? Let me know in the comments!

The first post!

Hello and welcome to the very first post on the official blog for Arrow Valley!

Arrow Valley was setup a few years back where I started making art and craft projects to sell on my Etsy shop.

Then in the summer of 2013, I setup a Youtube channel (Arrow Valley) to create video's of how I and some selected friends created the items and projects. This was a very slow starter and was soon abandoned.

However, in late 2014, I decided to begin uploading videos again of art projects that I had created showing digital art in a time lapse form. This was much more popular and within a few weeks I had gone from 2 to 100 subscribers and it is still growing today.

We currently aim to upload every Monday and every second and fourth Thursday of each Month. People can always leave suggests for future projects.
So don't forget to check back regularly for something new!

Thanks for looking.

Let's Paint...Tails

A time-lapse video of a painting based on Tails the Fox!

The always faithful friend of Sonic, Tails the Fox created here using Corel Painter 11.

First appearing in 1992 in Sonic 2, Tails has become one of the most recognised characters not just in the Sonic games but in gaming as a whole.

For this one, I chose to give him a slightly realistic look with more fur and hair. However, this wasn't the case when I first started with the designs. My first idea was to create a cartoon style colour scheme for the design. Resembling something closer to anime then realistic. But when I was researching pictures of Tails, I noticed that this had been done many times before and I would simply be adding to the pile. That's then I noticed the very few realistic versions that had been done. So that's when I changed my idea and began to create the image you see now. Which I think is all the more better for it.

The position and shape you see in the finished version however, never changed and in fact I only ever did one design for Tails. Usually I create several rough sketches and pick the one I think works best but this time, I knew exactly what I wanted to do and how!

Tails is also only one of the Sonic themed pieces I plan to do over the next few weeks.

So, what do you think? Let me know in the comments and please check out the video if you already haven't.

Here is the finished piece!

Let's Paint...Toy Bonnie

Another classic painting created by us based on Toy Bonnie from FNAF 2!

This particular picture was painted at some point in November 2014 using the computer painting program, Corel Painter 11.

I first, sketched down several different ideas quickly into my drawing pad. These where simply to give me an idea of some potential outcomes. The first one was of Toy Bonnie looking forward, a couple were like this where he was looking to the side and so on.

It took me a while to finally choose this design and the reason for this one? Simple, it fitted my overall idea for a large piece that I planed to do. You see, this was never intended to be a single stand alone piece. From the moment I chose to do a FNAF picture I wanted to included all the current cast. For this to work, I knew I needed to place them in a certain place and order to help give a creepy feel of them stalking the viewer. If they all looked forward, it might have looked strange and maybe even a little silly so I made Freddy (separate piece)the only one to look almost face on apart from Mangle who will be in the background. Bonnie however, will be placed just behind Freddy to help give an impression that he is coming from the shadows.

I also tried to make him look a little unnerving while trying to keep the cutesy feel that they have. I think to a certain level this worked quite well and I am very pleased with how this came out in the end.

So, what do you think?
